For consistency, we will label the following atoms

  • Your Mission:
    1. Assign the Y proton as Hc or Hd
For consistency over the class label the proton with similar interactions to both Ha and to Hb as Hc
and the proton that has one weaker and one stronger interaction (to Ha and Hb) as the Hd proton

    2. Assign the Z proton as Hc or Hd
    3. Have your TA or Instructor check your final labeling scheme.

    4. Finally:
Using the HETCOR, COSY and NOESY for your Co(diNOsar)Br3 product
and the HETCOR and COSY for d12-Co(diNOsar)Br3

Assign all peaks on the 1D spectra as arising from C1, C2, Ha, Hb, Hc, or Hd and then all cross peaks in the 2D NMR spectra as arising from pairs of nuclei using this same numbering/lettering scheme
