Lab14-8 ES2 Synthesizer Analog Lead

It uses a new synthesizer, the ES2, which is used in tracks 10-14.

Change Tracks

Select track 11 "Analog Lead" in the Track list.

Mute any tracks that contain green MIDI data.

The ES2 window

On my computer ES2 opened to the Mini Saw Attack preset.

Play a few notes on your MIDI controller to hear the sound.

Controls

ES2 controls

Turn the Resonance and Mod Depth controls to the off position.

Move the Wave control as you play notes.

Option click the Wave control to return to its default setting.

Move the Cutoff control as you play notes.

Add in the Resonance control.

Add in the Mod Depth control.

ADSR Envelope

The Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release controls control a standard ADSR envelope.

Change the envelope as you play.

Click the Macro button.

The full ES2 view is shown.

This is Logic's most powerful waveform synthesizer.

Chose additional presets and play them.

Try some of the Synth Motion sequences. Play one note on the MIDI controller and it will last for seconds moving and morphing.

Use the previous and next buttons to move through the presets sequentially.

To get back to the compact view, click the Macro Only button near the left bottom of the ES2 window.
