Additive Synthesis

The EVB3 uses Additive synthesis for it's sounds, similar to the additive synthesis lab we did in Octave.

Move all the drawbars to their full up position.

The sound should stop.

The left most brown drawbar represents the fundamental frequency, 1f.

The white drawbars are all octaves above the fundamental frequency, 2f, 4f, 8f, and 16f.

The second drawbar is the third harmonic 3f, a fifth above 2f.

The frequencies 6f, and 12f are one and two octaves above 3f.

The frequency 10f (E4) is a major third above 8f (C4).

Play with the drawbars to hear the effect of additive synthesis at work.
