After graduating, Tony took a research position in the study
of substance abuse at the New York State Psychiatric Institute
Division of the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, in
New York City. After working with human patients for a few
months, Tony decided to switch labs and help out with studies
of baboons and rhesus at the Psychiatric Institute. He enjoyed
this work a lot, but Tony's persistent interest in baseball
drew him away when he signed a pro baseball contract
with a minor league independent team out of Chicago, the
Windy City Thunderbolts in the spring of 2004. Of course,
baseball teams have tenuous rosters and Tony soon found other
things
to
do in
Chicago.
He writes that he is now working for the Lincoln Property
Company as a Development Analyst in Oak Brook, IL. He has
undertaken two major projects at the moment: a land acquisition
deal in Chicago's South Loop to be developed as apartments
and a Navy Housing Privatization Venture in the northern
suburbs of Chicago. He finds this current work challenging
and positive, but he still intends to apply to a PhD program
in psychology within the next 2 - 3 years. He is currently
engaged to be married to a Gustavus alum who is completing
her MSW program.
