Form Letter

Dear _____________,

Carleton College’s fall term biology seminar, Agroecology, is undergoing an extensive research project to determine the feasibility and merit of an organic, sustainable on-campus farm.  We got your contact information from Carleton’s Alumni Directory, and I if you have the time to share general thoughts on a new Carleton farm, specifically targeted ideas, or willingness to share your professional expertise in any related field, we would be most grateful.  We are seeking the input of Alumni on issues including:

  • What should a Carleton farm look like?

  • Where on campus? How big?

  • General growing methods - Compost? Inputs? Organic?

  • What type of capital investments needed? - e.g., tools, machinery, tool shed, packing shed, walk-in cooler

There are many considerations, and we have contacted you and others to begin investigating the process. If you wish to help or would like to be kept updated on our research, we thank you, and if not, please let us know so that we do not bother you with future communications.

Thank you for your consideration!

Sincerely,
