Geodynamic Evolution of East African Rift

Required Books and Materials:
None. All readings will be in the form of handouts.
This course will explore the Geodynamic Evolution of East African Rift System.
Main topics that will be covered include; geochronology, petrology, and volcanotectonic
history of the rift. The course will be reading several articles, lectures,
and discussion.
Prerequisite: one or two geology classes or instructor's consent.
OCTOBER 6 Pick your topic, describe what you intend to do in detail
OCTOBER 14 Turn in a complete list of references with annotations of how each
reference is relevant to your topic.
You should have at least 10 current references, mainly from journal literature
OCTOBER 20 Turn in a detailed outline [1/3 of your term paper grade]
