The GSS at Berkelely

Study: GSS 1972-2002 Cumulative Datafile  (where you start when getting to the data .. be sure to open a codebook in another window).

If you find that the SDA is too limiting.  We'll have a special section just for the people who want to dig deeper & use SPSS.  Don't make this harder on yourself though, I can help you with this step so you can really get into the data with fewer computer hassles.  I DO encourage you to try getting into the data with SPSS!!

the GSS at UMich

Note especially the Reports & Bibliography ..  The Reports section will give you a hand with finding recent controversies in research developed with this data.  (hint: think term paper.. .. think comps.)  Again, I don't recommend getting the data from here.. use the SDA from Berkelely.

General Social Survey resources developed at Queens College

This site has a good annotated bibliography.. which can be helpful to guide you to fruitful reserach questions.
I don't recommend getting the data from here - or printing the suggested display of subjects.

Methods help from a site at Trinity College:

Be careful not to procrastinat here.. there's lots going on & it's easy to get distracted.  However, it's a good place to go to help yourself get a handle on the research process.  It's also a good place to go to get the GSS citation.
