What We Can Do Together

Hi, I'm Iris, and I'm here to help you with your research-related course work. My schedule is online, or you can add me to a calendar event in Zimbra and see if I'm free. So if you want to make an appointment (hint, hint comps students!) check my calendar and then get in touch with me to reserve some time. For those of you who've never been to an appointment with me, here's what you can expect:

• We can go over your topic, especially what is and is not researchable, see if there's a lot written about your topic (so you might have to narrow it), or see if there's not much written (so you might have to broaden or diversify).
• We can match your topic to your research to see if you've got a good mix of appropriate sources.
• We can go over everything from basic to advanced search strategies and techniques and identify databases that would be most helpful for your research.
• We can make sure you haven't missed that one critical source for your topic.
• I can set you up with EndNote to help you manage your research notes and citations
• Or we can do anything from giggle to cry, if that's what'll help you get through your research project.

Remember, these sessions work best if you know what your assignment or comps topic actually is, so bringing in the assignment, comps proposal, and notes on any research you've already done is a really good idea.
