Search plugins (or Search providers) allow you to run searches directly from your browser (IE and FF). They appear in a drop-down list in the upper right hand corner of your browser window. Simply type your search into the box, choose the search plugin you want to use and click the search button. You will then see the results of your search.
Which version should I use?
The "off-campus access" version of the plugins requires a Carleton username and password to log in to our proxy server. This allows you to access our subscription online resources when you're not on campus.
- Are you only using these on campus? Use the regular version.
- Are you off campus (or will you use these while off campus)?
- If you have a Carleton username and password, use the "off campus access" version.
- If you do not have a Carleton username and password, use the regular version, you will be able to use the searches with no problem, but will not be able to access some of our online resources.
